On a serious note, Jennifer is generous in her charity work as well, often focusing on issues within her hometown in Louisville, Kentucky. Her foundation, The Lawrence Foundation, supports a few other charity organisations such as the Special Olympics, DoSomething.org, Feeding America and The Thirst Project. In addition, Jennifer was bestowed a special tribute for the Down Syndrome of Louisville Lifelong Learning Center in 2013. She is also often seen visiting her former school friend, Andy Stuck, who has Down Syndrome, giving him movie posters autographed by her.
Jennifer also starred in a promotional short “Jennifer Lawrence Cares About Bellewood” to urge volunteers to step forward to care for the abused, neglected and homeless youths, or provide financial contribution to non-profit agency, Bellewood Home for Children. She said in the video, “Bellewood is very close to my heart because it’s been in my family for generations. Now, more than ever, children across my home state of Kentucky need our help and support. Bellewood can give them just that.” Besides that, Jennifer went to its main campus in Louisville to share about her film Winter Bone in 2010.
