5 Simple Tips to Achieve Your Goals

Goal-setting – One of the most searched keyword ever. There are thousands of books and zillions of blog posts on this topic but a few has managed to hack it. Is there a strategy that works for all? Not really!

However, beyond all the strategies, there are a few things, if done properly, will help to achieve goals even those that are close to dreams for you.

1. Make you feel proud
If the goal, when achieved, won’t make you proud, then don’t bother to go for it. Our life is too short to pursue goals that are not close to the heart. Even if it’s a small goal, it should give you great joy when achieved.

2. Break it down
It’s pretty easy to read one chapter of a book than to ponder over days on how to read the entire book. Just like that break your goal into the smallest possible granule. Then work towards how to achieve that. This way, unknowingly, you are going closer towards your goal.

3. Every single day
No matter what, you should work on your goal every single day. If you are training for marathon and today is a rest day for you, then you can read about the preparations of top marathoners, diet-plan for runners, chatting with fellow runners etc. This will make sure that you are attached to your goal every single day.

4. Celebrate small victories
You are doing a course work along with your regular job and you just received your first semester mark sheet and it’s very impressive. Now what? Normal reaction – “Good start, but many more to go”. Instead, think that you are 1 step closer to that certification and treat yourself with something you like (No need to get yourself a Lamborghini for that, though). You will be confident, charged up and ready to work towards the next milestone.

5. Process matters
Take the marathon example once again – You can’t complete a marathon just by thinking about it every day. Instead focus on its process – training, diet and gear. If you follow the the best practices to those, it is more certain that you will complete a marathon. Just like that, to achieve any goal, focus on the process and the result will take care of itself.
